ARTWORKS WORKSHOP WEEKEND!!
Three different mini-workshops are available the weekend of June 11 & 12, at Olmsted Manor Retreat Center in Ludlow, PA. Participants may register for all 3 or separate sessions according to interests. A lunch for those interested will be at 12:30 for an additional cost of $8.50. Featured artists and sessions are:
Watercolor - Marian Aranyos, Warren- Saturday June 11 from 10 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. Learn the basic watercolor technique and complete a small watercolor notecard with subject matter of choice. Bring watercolors, brushes, a water container, palette or tray, masking tape , a small cardboard or hard surface to attach the note card to, and paper towels. Notecards with envelopes will be provided with loaner watercolors for those needing materials. Cost is $20.
Marian specializes in bold watercolors and torn paper collage and exhibits at the Kane Artworks at the Depot and Ring Around the Rosy gallery, Warren. She is an art education graduate of Kutztown University in eastern Pennsylvania where she was raised. She is presently an 8th grade Language Arts teacher in the Warren County School District.
Collage - Merry Ryding, Kane, Saturday, June 11 1:15-4:00. Merry will demonstrate the collage technique and the various paper possibilities. Board support and adhesive materials will be provided. Participants are asked to bring in scraps of interesting, varied papers for their own use and also to share. Cost is $10.
A former native of Alaska, Merry studied art in college in Seattle, and also in Illinois and Vermont. She has lived in the Kane, PA area for many years where she finds inspiration all around her, especially in the Allegheny National Forest. Her eclectic style features mixed media (collage), woodcuts, egg tempera, and beadwork. She is the gallery director of the Artworks at the Depot co-operative. She also occassionally teaches art history as an adjunct at Pitt-Bradford, and works part-time as publicity and graphics cooordinator for Olmsted Manor.
Intro to Pastel - Judy Leasure, Smethport, Sunday June 12 1:00-4:30. Judy will perform a step by step techinique of working with a still life of pears. Participants are to bring a tabletop easel, baby wipes, a #2 pencil, and any pastels. Artist will provide paper and loaner pastel sets for those needing materials. Beginner to advanced welcome. Cost is $20.
Judy specializes in watercolor, pastel and colored pencil. She paints realistically and enjoys animal portraits and still life painting. She is a former native of Delaware who teaches at several colleges, painters retreats, and workshops in the Oil City Franklin area where she formerly resided. She is also on the teaching staff at the Sawmill Center for the Arts in the Cooks Forest. In 2010, she was juried into the Pennsylvania Wilds Artisan Trail.
